The all new Lada Xray has gone into production according to reports from the production launch ceremony at AVTOVAZ. The ceremony at the plant at Tolyatti was attended by Samara regional Governor Nikolay Merkushin, and the President of "AVTOVAZ" Bo Andersson.

Also present at the event was Senior VP and Operations Director of Renault Eurasia Jean-Christoph Kugler. Merkushin told attendees the new Lada would not only be sold in Russia, but also abroad. He commented on the 12 billion rubles invested by state banks, and a new frame of cooperation with the government. Lada Xray production is now 50 vehicles per day, but he expects production to be 10X this by the end of the year. 

Sales of the new Xray is scheduled to start in February for the vehicle designed by noted Mercedes adn Volvo designer Steve Mattin. The new Lada is a collaborative effort in between Alliance Renault-Nissan, with production organized on the Bo line in Togliatti. By 2020 AVTOVAZ will produce six new models and renew five existing models, according to the company.
