On November 8th and running through the 24th at the Svetlanov-Moscow International House of Music, the VIII Moscow musical festival "Vladimir Spivakov invites..." will open. According to the news, Spivakov will appear at the festival opening in two roles - as soloist and conductor.
The program this year will include works from Shostakovich and Bach, with the Bach Concerto being performed by Alexey Lundin. People's artist of Russia Denis Matsuev will perform virtuoso solos from works by Schnittke and Lutoslawski as well. On 11th November, Svetlanov Hall has invited German pianist Joseph Moog. For November 14, the hall will resound with famous love duets and singer Verga Kononovan.
Guests of the festival will enjoy excerpts from the Opera "Pagliacci" Leoncavallo, melodies from operettas by Strauss and Kalman; hits from Gershwin's Opera "Porgy and Bess", Bernstein's musical "West side story", and tunes from the Lloyd-Webber sensation "Phantom of the Opera".
