Team Russia Takes on Czech Republic at Karjala Tournament Today

In news from the Karjala Cup in Helsinki, Team Russia plays again today versus Czech Republic after having defeated team Sweden in the match of the first stage. Yesterday's meet-up ended with the score 6:3 (1:0, 3:2, 2:1).

Scoring for the Russian team were; Daniil apal'kov, Sergei mozyakin, Nikolai Proportin, Vadim Shipachev (twice) and Ilya Kovalchuk. Russia's match today starts at 13:00. The Russian team having only lost to Finland 2 to 1, is favored to edge out the Czech team, which was edged out by Finland 1:2 yesterday. 

The Karjala Tournament, the opening tournament of this seasons’ Euro Hockey Tour, is an institution for Finnish Lions hockey fans, is being held at Hartwall Arena, in Helsinki. The Tournament, also known as Karjala Cup, is an annual ice hockey event held in Finland. The name Karjala comes from the sponsoring beer brand Karjala ("Karelia").Originating in 1992 as the Sauna Cup, the event has been part of the Euro Hockey Tour (EHT) in which Czech Republic, Finland, Russia and Sweden participate since 1996.
